Environmental Policy

Here in Crantock we are extremely fortunate to be living in beautiful, natural surroundings enjoying, what is arguably, some of the finest coastline within the United Kingdom.

However, we are very much aware that running a business can have a significant impact on the environment and, since acquiring the Fairbank Hotel in 2003, all of our changes have been designed to help decrease this impact.

This year we are aiming to further reduce our impact on the environment and, at the same time, increase our visitors' awareness of the surrounding area and its long term sustainability for all to enjoy in the future.

As part of this policy, the Fairbank Hotel will:

   —   sort and recycle waste, as far as is possible, in order to reduce the volume sent to landfill
   —   use local produce and suppliers where possible, so reducing the 'food miles'
   —   maintain a 'Green Tariff' with our electricity supplier
   —   use low energy light bulbs wherever practical
   —   use low energy electrical equipment
   —   correspond by email, where possible, rather than printing to post
   —   encourage guests to think of alternatives to using their car - walk, bike
   —   help guests minimize emissions by providing information on public transport and local 'environmentally friendly' activities not requiring a car
   —   monitor use of utility commodities such as oil, electricity and water and strive to reduce usage
   —   restock, when next required, with recycled stationery and brochures for any written correspondence
   —   endeavour to raise awareness within staff and guests in how to participate in protecting the environment

Whilst it is our aim to be as 'environmentally friendly' as possible, it is also our intention to MINIMIZE effects on the environment without COMPROMISE to your enjoyment, or comfort, during your stay at the Fairbank Hotel.

We welcome your support with our aims for long term sustainability, to benefit all, both now and for future generations.

Access Statement
Access Statement for Fairbank Hotel

Introduction

Here at the Fairbank Hotel, we are committed to ensuring that all our guests are given a warm welcome and that their needs are catered for effectively. To enable us to achieve this it is important that we are aware of any guests who have any special needs or disabilities, to ensure that their stay at the hotel is as enjoyable as possible.

It is our aim that guests with special requirements do not feel that they are discriminated against in any way and that they are welcomed in the same way as all our guests.

Within our website we have endeavoured to describe all facilities and features of the Hotel as accurately as possible and we are fully committed to our programme of continual improvement - welcoming any feedback from our guests.

We would like all of our potential guests to be aware that all bedrooms in the Hotel are located on the first and second floors accessed by two separate, bright and airy staircases. There is no lift facility installed but assistance will always be available. The main staircase to the first floor has a second handrail and nosings to the carpet on each stair tread to facilitate access for our less mobile guests.
